1. *H.E.Y.! Help Empower Youth! Film is showing in your community
United Way of Windham County's Youth Initiative invites you to view a compelling documentary, "H.E.Y.! Help Empower Youth!", that spotlights what youth have to say in response to questions about their lives and their community. Do kids feel valued and respected? What are their goals and fears? How do they feel about the way adults in the community treat them? What kind of support do they need? This 15-minute film offers wonderfully eye-opening, heartfelt insights into what kids are thinking, experiencing and needing, and ways that the community can help them become healthy, happy, contributing, successful adults.

This powerful film will be playing at the following locations:
Leland & GrayMiddle/High School Monday May 17th, 6:00pm;
Bellows Falls/Rockingham Library Wednesday May 19th at 6:00pm;
Jacksonville Municipal Center Tuesday May 25th at 6:00pm; and
Boys and Girls Club of Brattleboro Wednesday May 26th at 6:00pm.
Food will be provided and a discussion will follow. All are welcome!

The film is part of a the Youth Initiative's overall H.E.Y.! Help Empower Youth! campaign, which calls every adult in the community to action in supporting area youth. In addition to the film, we have created a brochure and window sticker that will be distributed around the county.

2. WarnerWebWorks hired to develop web site

I am excited to announce that WarnerWebWorks of Brattleboro has been hired to develop a web site that will provide accessible information to young people, their families and the community about resources and activities available for youth throughout the county. The web site will provide information about out of school activities, events and organizations. Over time, our hope is that the HelpEmpowerYouth.com web site will become a vehicle for youth to share art and music, learn about opportunities, and build a common resource for youth and adults alike across Windham County. The site will be up and running in August 2004 in order for families to plan for the 2004/2005 school year. We are eager to hear from youth and parents interested in advising the development process.
