This logo highlights organizations in Windham County that provide opportunities for physical activity and improved nutrition.

They may provide

  • a place to go walk, run or play
  • sports programs
  • outdoor adventure opportunities
  • healthy snacks
  • cooking classes
  • nutrition education
  • aerobic workouts
As a parent or adult mentor helping a young person get involved it is important to ask some questions to find out the degree to which a young person will be physically active and exposed to healthy food choices. Here are some questions you can ask:
  • Does the programs seek to encourage youth to be more physically active?
  • Does the program offer activities to help increase the activity level of my child?
  • Within the structured programs, how often are participants engaged in vigorous physical activity?
  • What kinds of snacks are available? Are they healthy? Do they include fruits, vegetables and unprocessed food?
  • Does the programs seek to help youth learn about healthy food choices?
