Young people
are an important resource in our community.

making about issues and programs that affect them
will help our community and organizations become more
welcoming, supportive and effective. To learn

about each other so that they can work
together to change society. Search their web
site and find great resources and guides.

promotes meaningful student involvement in school
transformation.
- Fit
& Healthy Vermonters Obesity is quickly becoming
a leading public health challenge in Vermont. Over
half of all Vermont adults are overweight or obese,
and overweight among children is increasing at an
alarming rate. This web site provides helpful
information on eating healthy including shopping lists,
recipes and recreation ideas.
- Recommendations
for Youth Programs & Activities
Check out this set of recommendations designed
to help youth serving organizations in Windham County
provide quality programming as we all work to insure
that youth are supported and empowered by their families
and their community so that they will make healthy
decisions and grow into productive adults.
The Center
for Health and Learning facilitates educational opportunities
for educators, community members and children/youth
to promote health-enhancing skills, knowledge and
attributes across the lifespan.
Services
include: classroom presentations on media literacy,
HIV/AIDS education and many other health education
topics, work with students around developing interpersonal,
decision-making and problem-solving skills, staff
development, nutrition policy and healthy snack programs,
fitness and wellness promotion programs. CHL also
works with groups to define their mission, goals and
objectives and put ideas into action.

Life Skills provides new ideas, creative activities,
and different approaches to use with youth programs.
Resources found on this site will help you organize
and implement life skill training sessions, teen conferences,
youth leadership training, mentoring projects, and
independent living programs."
- Green Mountain
Camp for Girls is located in Dummerston Vermont
and is available for retreats, programs and
events. The camp has a beautiful property with several
cabins as well as a house and a cottage. The camp
also has 2 fire pits, a three season big barn with
a fire place and a commercial kitchen and dining hall.
The camp offers programs and events to educate adults
and children in outdoor living and fun, arts and crafts
as well as team building skills.
